The VSEVOLOZHSK-INFO: the shores of the Longest lake in Vsevolozhsk cleaned
Last Saturday, members of several committees of the regional government participated in the clean up the shores of lakes in the Vsevolozhsk district of the Leningrad region. The action was timed to the world day of environment (environment Day), celebrated on 5 June.
Cloudy weather did not dampen the spirits of the participants, and did not destroy their plans. As water bodies were selected, popular with the local population (as a place of recreation and rest), lakes – Large and Long, located near Vsevolozhsk.
Organizers and sponsors of the event were volunteer ecological movement “Clean lakes” and the company “Coca-Cola Hellenic”.
On the Saturday, held in coordination with the local administration, worked more than 80 people, including residents of the area. 2.5 hours were collected 144 bags of garbage or about 10 cubic meters of solid waste.
– I am very pleased to make a contribution in specific and useful. I wish people learned respect for nature, – says Dmitry Bortkevich, in 2008-2012 head of Department of water monitoring of the state control Committee of nature use and ecological safety of Leningrad region.
According to Vera Breus, external relations Manager at “Coca-Cola Hellenic”, the environment is one of the priorities of corporate social responsibility. Two years in a row, we improved the area near the lakes on the southern border of the Leningrad region and St. Petersburg, she says. The end of last season are impressive: 3 on-the-lake – Unnamed, Long and Duderhof, 230 participants and about 10 tons of garbage.
The idea of the volunteer movement today finds understanding at the highest level. We will remind that Vladimir Putin, speaking in April 2012 at the meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Russian geographical society (RGO), discussed with experts promising environmental projects and supported the initiative of volunteer organizations that clean debris from the banks of major rivers and lakes, offering to promote the practice of “General cleaning” on all regions of Russia.
“The challenge of conservation should be a priority for the rulers of the provinces” cited Vladimir Putin words of one of the founders of reserves of Ivan Borodin. “I Want to believe that heads of regions will be guided by these considerations in their work”, – said at the meeting of the RGS President-elect.
Note that successful cleaning is not a one-to Vsevolozhsk district. The organizers plan to hold another “reorganization” of the coast lakes at the conclusion of the beach season this fall. To join everyone can.
