Amazing lake Hamilton Pool (Texas, USA) – WONDERFUL MOMENTS FUNNY AND SAD
37 km West of Austin (Texas, USA) is one of the most unusual and picturesque lakes in the world — Hamilton Pool (Hamilton Pool). The unusual it is that Hamilton Pool is both an underground lake and surface, flowing to the surface from under the arch stone grotto. The lake was formed thousands of years ago as a result of collapse of the limestone dome of an underground river due to massive erosion. Water underground rivers flow into the river flowing nearby Pedernales (Pedernales river), which, in turn, is a tributary of the Colorado river (Colorado).
The pool is surrounded by huge slabs of limestone, and the ceiling of the cave stalactites hanging down in places.
Until the 19th century there lived tribes of American Indians Tokawa and Apache. In 1985 a parcel of 232 acres of land on which is located this unique natural formation was purchased from private owners and declared a nature reserve — the Hamilton Pool Preserve.
To approach the lake on foot, leaving the car at the entrance to the reserve and breaking the 400-meter descent on a steep slope.
